Sacramento Antique Fair

The Sacramento Antique Fair takes place on the second Sunday of each month under the freeway at 21st  between W & X.  After months of putting off and having to wait because on conflicts in my schedule I was able to go last weekend. Since I recently completed my first brooch bouquet, I was on a mission to find more brooches.  For those of you who know me well, I am usually successful when shopping and Sunday was no exception.  The brooches pictured above will be added to a bridal bouquet I am putting together in September....lots of purple, pink and orange!

Adam Carolla at Uptown

Friday night I went to Oentri Restaurant in Downtown Napa.  The atmosphere was rustic meets modern Italian.  I had a delicious gin cocktail concoction and the linguini with seared scallops for dinner.  I would definitely recommend the restaurant  but if you're feeling hungry, don't be shy ordering an app, salad and entree!

After dinner we headed over to see Adam Carolla at the Uptown Theater.  I absolutely loved his show when it aired in Sacramento and was terribly disappointed when it got pulled.  Friday night wasn't a normal stand-up routine, but instead, he used projector screens as props to show photos and talk about things that bother him around his house and Los Angeles, we got to see a movie special "premier" of a cartoon,  watch a video of Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel in LAX completely hammered dressed as pilots (pre 9/11).  His rants and raves crack me up!

I Heart Local

Source
Last week I went on a personal adventure.  To give you a little background/time line, I have been putting flowers together and planning parties for a long long time (I think I threw my first big pool party in 8th grade as a joint birthday party with Jeff Thompson)!  More recently, I started making the decor, planning and florals an actual business!  Last week I decided to put myself out there and see what kind of response I get from people who are not close personal friends and family.  I designed several floral arrangements and went to local businesses to see if I could display my flowers and some cards in each one.  To say the least, I had a few butterflies in my stomach.  I have never been one to self-promote, but I have to in order make people aware of what I am capable of doing.  The butterflies subsided with each welcoming, encouraging and supportive response.  I ended up with flower arrangements at  Arden Hot Yoga, Matteo's, Luna Lounge, Bella Bru, Bella Bru Express (now in Pavillions), Madam Butterfly, and Roxy!  I even received a picture text Friday night from a girlfriend who spotted one of my arrangements.  Did you see one?

Pumpkin Pickers

Clouds and rain got me in the mood for fall this past Sunday.  I made my annual trip out to Davis Ranch and picked out pumpkins.  They have an amazing selection - shapes, colors, varieties and sizes you cannot begin to imagine!  This year I'm actually going to carve a pumpkin instead of glitter them.  I'll let you know how it turns out!  The rain got progressively heavier Sunday so I made some chicken pot pie from scratch that hit the spot.  With rain in the forecast this weekend I am beginning to think of using the fireplace, soups, tamale pie, curling up with a good book and enjoying the change!
