Hot in here!

The heat last week was pretty brutal.  I couldn't resist sharing what happened to my Peet's  coffee cup when it was left in my car while I was at work!  Totally melted!  Thankfully, it has cooled down and I am loving the mild weather!  This week is all about tennis...watching and playing! If you haven't had the chance to take in a Capital's match out at Sunrise Mall, this is the time to do so.  So far this season Martina Hingis and Serena Williams have been headlining players, but really any player of WTT is pretty remarkable!  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that watching the pros will pump me up for the first (and hopefully not last) round of playoffs this weekend!
I feel so lucky to be on such a great team right now.  The ladies I play with are really wonderful and a ton of fun!  Last week we played our final regular season match and ended on a high note winning every single line.  After a little celebrating and chatting I headed home and came across this frog, which was actually pretty decent sized.  He started hopping away from me and I chased him with my iPhone camera.  As I squatted down to snap the photo I was struck with the irony of me chasing a giant frog.  I rolled my eyes, had a good laugh and we parted ways (also ironic)....and if any of my neighbors saw me they probably think I'm crazy!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game!

Yesterday was such a great day! I took the train over to the city and met up with my girlfriend at Red's Java House (a San Francisco landmark and total dive).  We hung out there for a couple of hours with some of her friends and then headed over to AT&T Park.  Our seats were a little past 1st base where we got to soak in the bay area sunshine and watch out for foul balls! It would have been great if the Giants won but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless!  After the game we met up with friends at 21st Amendment  for a drink then decided to grab a bite to eat before we had to catch the train home.  We ran into Mike Krukow on the street.  He was meandering home and he said,"Hi!" as I walked towards him so I shook his hand and he told me to have a fun night.  It was a very random/funny experience.

Celebrate!

It seems like the older we get the less important birthdays are but I do think they're a great excuse to get together with the important people in your life! Three wonderful friends have birthdays within a week of each other! I am looking forward to spending time with each of them and celebrating their amazing lives!

Of Course!

Got this in the mail today! That's right, this makes the third wedding I am in within a year.  I am starting to feel like Catherine Heigl in 27 Dresses.  Thankfully I don't have any bridezilla girlfriends.  In fact, I think they are all pretty amazing women...why else would I be friends with them?!

To Die Of A Broken Heart

"She was the love of my life," he repeated between heavy cries when she passed.  I've heard about elderly couples dying together within a short period of time, and, out of everyone I have ever met I am not surprised they fell into the same category.  My Grandfather, Papa, died of a broken heart just over a month after he lost his wife of nearly 63 years.  You see, he was a strong man.  So, once Mimi passed he used all of his will to be with her again.  I am happy they are both free from their worn out bodies and minds.  Those of us lucky enough to know them have many fond memories to hold close in our hearts.  Their love for each other is a rarity these days.  They lived for one another, the beautiful family they created and their wonderful circle of friends (the slideshow shows just that!).  It's hard to process the finality of death, especially the deaths of Mimi & Papa, but I am comforted that they are together once again.

Enough said.

Maybe There Is A Shark In The Water

Source: ffffound.com via Lisa on Pinterest

Admittedly, I have some of the most bizarre dreams. Last night I had a dream I was dangling on a tree that was jutting out of the ocean.  Circling the tree was a talking shark, who was my friend, yet kept trying to bite me.  I was attempting to jump over the shark onto the dock and that darn shark, supposedly my friend, kept trying to get me!   Got the message loud and clear....thanks subconscious.  I guess I have those weird dreams for a reason.

A Pastime That Warms My Heart

I don't have a clue how to play poker but playing cribbage is something my family has done for generations. It is a lovely way for us to spend time together and catch up.  My grandparents are coming to visit tomorrow and I am looking forward to getting some games in. Grandma is quite the card shark!  What is a pastime your family enjoys together?

Stripper 101

Source: None via Monica on Pinterest

11am: the room is still spinning, the TV is on with the volume blasting, all the lights are on, everyone else is  sound asleep.  I look down and am holding a mini water bottle with alka seltzer (apparently, the one smart thing I did before passing out).  I slowly go through a mental checklist: I am in the Mirage Hotel, it is Sunday May 8th,  don't forget to call Mom and wish her "Happy Mother's Day", today we are going to Stripper 101.

Eventually, I heave my body upright and am reminded how swollen my feet are from dancing the night away 'til dawn two nights in a row.  The rest of the sleeping beauties begin to wake and we range from moderately to extremely hungover.  Grunts and moans are used to say "good morning" to each other.  We try to muster up the energy to fit the bill for the scheduled activity. Today's attire: sexy clothes and stripper heels! I rummage my suitcase to find booty shorts, a lacey bra and nude tank then slide a loose romper over the minimalistic outfit to walk the strip.   I throw heels into my purse and opt for much more sensible shoes, Rainbows

I lead the pack of 7 sunglass-clad zombie-like ladies down to the Miracle Mile where we find the V Theater.  With tickets in hand, we walk into the Stripper Bar (Giant Stripper on a pole out front and all) and collect on our free drink to ease our hangovers and re-energize ourselves! The mood becomes a little lighter as we watch class participants take their souvenir photo on the stripper pole and we get in for a group shot of the entire bachelorette party....it's a keeper!

Time for class! We walk down the dark hallway of the theater and into a backroom where a very tall, muscular, lean red-head greets us....she's our instructor!  Nervous whispers and laughter echo through the tile floored room.  Everyone instantly becomes a wallflower and grabs a chair lined up on the outside of the room.  We learn the basics of a lap dance....basically move your hips and pretend to put lotion all over your body then windmill your arm around and smack your booty in between teasing your lap-dancee with your "soft parts".... and as ladies, we know what those are!  The class progresses and we spin on the pole then watch in awe as the instructor inverts herself and does crunches on the pole while hanging from her ankles! Sparkle, Diamonds, Scarlet, Boobylicious, Bubbles, Gigi and Sugar all graduated and still have the bruises to prove it!  What a fun experience! Who knew we'd have so many shining stars in our group!

New Addition

I have been in search of some patio furniture for my deck for a while now.  This past weekend I finally settled on this little number from IKEA.  Since my patio is under a tree that attracts lots of birds and has no hose connection I want to find something that can be easily cleaned and cheap so when it gets destroyed I won't be too heartbroken.  It is going to be the perfect lounging spot to read.  Hopefully I will finish The Unbearable Lightness of Being soon!

Yes

The countdown to Vegas has begun! I can't wait to celebrate a very special bachelorette in a big way! This photo got me excited and inspired for the trip as I go down the Vegas look checklist:
Hot Dress
Big Hair
Lots of Sparkle
The Highest Heels I Can Possibly Wear
and a Fun, Sexy Attitude
While I realize that everything that happens in Vegas does not stay in Vegas, it has been my experience that things happen in Vegas that do not happen anywhere else!  I think my favorite memory was eating at Bouchon  with three of my friends a few years back.  We were treated to a five course dinner, each course paired with wine and to our surprise the entire thing was comped!  Everything was delicious and we felt like royalty!  Everyone has a fun Vegas story, what's yours?

Family of Love

I LOVE this photo about LOVE! To me it symbolizes how love is shared and built upon by more than a single person....it takes a family, friends or your family of friends (that is our chosen family, right?)! So sweet! Don't forget to let those you love know how much you care....and learn to love, respect and honor yourself....without that how can you ever properly love anyone else?

As I get older (28 is approaching quickly here) I find more and more value in my relationships with my friends, brother, parents, and extended family.  I would be completely lost without them and love them very much!

Why not...

Ghandi might be a little heavy for a Monday (and a holiday at that) but I love this poster.  The world would be a much better place if everyone tried to live their life by these words.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Breathe and Smile!

Source: via Monica on Pinterest

Yay! Made it to the weekend! I am looking forward to seeing a special show tonight (I'll let you know how it goes) in a cool little town with some of my favorite people!

This last week has really shown me how lucky I am to have so many people that care about me.  I honestly could not ask for better friends and family!  My parents really are awesome.  And, if you ask me, they raised two uh-mazing people!  I am looking forward to seeing the second one soon!  The rest of you know who you are....yes, I am talking to you.

Hope everyone has a great weekend....enjoy those Superbowl commercials!

By the way, does anyone know how I can get one of these without paying $3,000? I am a little obsessed!

I Wish

If I could do anything right now, I would gather up all of my girlfriends and take them on vacation to the beach. I am longing to feel the sand between my toes and fingers and sip on an cool beverage as I lay out and let the sun wrap me in its blanket of warmth.

Giants Baseball

Pre-sale of the San Francisco Giants tickets is next week!  I have never really gotten too involved in baseball, but last year it was somewhat forced upon me by my boyfriend.  So, I embraced the Giants and it turned out to be such a fun season!  Who couldn't help but get caught up in the trails and tribulations of "The Freak", The "Cainsaw Massacre", "Fear the Beard"......and who is The Machine?  I bet some of you are excited for baseball season to begin! Anyone up to go to a game?

Here are some items from Etsy that are perfect for the Giant's fan in your life!

The Past Is Like An Anchor Holding Us Back

Source
This poster really struck a chord with me.  Sometimes I think we can get stuck in a certain way of thinking or living and it limits us.  It seems like the only way to grow and move forward is to drop the extra baggage.  Don't get hung up on things you've said or done in the past.  Strive to be the person you want to be right now in this very moment.  It sounds simple, right?

Friday!

I hope everyone has a fun weekend!  What's on the books for me?  Date night, wedding dress shopping for one of my best friends, girl's night and a birthday celebration!....another whirlwind weekend....but I am one lucky girl to have so many amazing people in my life!

This isn't necessarily what we do on girl's night...but we have this much fun!
