Tierney & Jack | Silverado Resort | Napa, CA | Wedding

Just thought I would post a few photos from the wedding I worked on this last weekend!  The morning started out extremely stormy this past Saturday but, luckily, by mid-afternoon the storm let up for Tierney and Jack's beautiful wedding ceremony in St. Helena, CA.  I've known Tierney since she was in preschool with my little brother and she has always been a girly girl.  It was not surprising when she requested lots of sparkle to be incorporated in her wedding flowers including gold sparkly baby's breath! 

 

Tierney's bouquet contained organic garden roses, standard roses, calla lilies, lisianthus and ranunculus accented with rhinestones!  Her bridesmaid bouquets (one pictured below) contained purple stock, hydrangea, roses, picasso calla lilies and gold baby's breath.

 

As you can see from the cake table (above) and guest card table (below) there was lots of old and silver bling wrapped around the vases!  Hydrangea, rose and carnation with the gold baby's breath made up each of the centerpieces accented with gold mercury glass votives and mirrors.

SIP & SEE | HOT PINK | LIME GREEN

 

I don't always have the chance to photograph my work before it goes to my clients (which is really a good sign that I've grown so busy!)!  Luckily, I work with some wonderful people and often times they send my photos, or their photographers are generous enough to send me photos! Here is a photo from a Sip and See at a local Lodi winery.  I love the idea of inviting friends to have a drink and some bites to eat while meeting your new bundle of joy!  I think it is a wonderful alternative to a baby shower or in addition to one. 

SHABBY CHIC 1st BIRTHDAY | GARDEN PARTY

 

Pretty pastel pink, green, yellow, blue and lavender created the perfect delicate color palate for little Sienna's 1st Birthday Party! Sienna's crafty mom used beautiful bunting, giant balloons, birdcages, mason jars and delicious desserts to decorate the shabby chic affair.  In Full Bloom by MJL created wildflower-type arrangements in watering cans, bird cages and mason jars.  This is a very lucky one-year-old!  I wonder what birthday party #2 will look like!

Holiday Floral Workshop

Do you ever go to the grocery store, purchase a bundle of beautiful flowers and stick them directly in a vase of water?  Well, I would love to teach you arranging techniques along with some elements of design to help  turn your everyday flowers into beautiful focal points around your home at my first ever holiday floral workshop! We will design a basic arrangement of a dozen roses and a beautiful centerpiece arrangement for your holiday table.  Both arrangements will be yours to take home!

In Full Bloom by MJL with Rustic Event Rentals

Were you the bride scouring every thrift store and garage sale for those unique rustic pieces to complete your big day?  Well, save yourself some time and get in touch with Rustic Event Rentals! It's a brand new business in Sacramento that has accessories including vases, bottles, old wooden crates, chalk boards and more!

Last week I did some staging with Rustic Event Rentals!  I chose (from left to right) variegated pittosporum, gypsophelia or baby's breath, stock, solidago, chocolate lace, mint, stellata pods, golden yarrow, craspedia and roses to complete the rustic look! 

Napa Valley Wedding Flowers - Harvest Inn

The stars did align literally and figuratively the stars aligned (well, technically the moon and our star) May 20, 2012 for Kristin and Gabe on their wedding day at the Harvest Inn in St. Helena, California.  The solar eclipse took place directly following the ceremony, which was oddly appropriate for the couple who met in the Department of Physics & Astronomy Graduate Studies Program at UCLA. 

They are one of my favorite.couples.ever.  It's not like I say this about all the couples I work with, Kristin is one of my very best friends.  We met shortly after high school on the Sierra College Tennis Team back in 2002 and have been best friends ever since.  I think one of the many things that bonds us so closely is our ultra-calm demeanor that can often times be misread as unhappy, disgruntled, what have you (to put it nicely).  We just get each other.  I am so happy for her that she found a partner for life that gets her too! 

Kristin and I collaborated a lot on how to execute her wedding and flower vision.  Her color palette was inspired by the surrounding vineyards when she selected green, white and purple. I used green tea roses, hydrangea, ranunculus, spider mums, pom pons, lavender, freesia, viburnum, sword fern, hypericum berries, picasso lilies and more to complete the look. 

I'm partial to the flower girl too!  She was the only kid at the wedding and had a blast!  I loved creating her flower girl head wreath and she was so excited to wear it for the day!

For the centerpieces, Kristin and I generated two floral concepts.  The first was a clear glass vase about 8" in diameter on a wooden round pedestal with clear votive candles surrounding it. 

The second floral concept consisted of three glass vases about 4 1/2" in diameter on three wooden tree pedestals that were different heights. The round in the middle had a vase with a flower arrangement while the other two vases (tall and low) had a floating candle in water inside (pictured below). 

Kristin spent a great deal of time and effort doing DIY projects, adding a beautiful personal touch to the wedding.  I think she did an especially amazing job on the cupcake table!  By the way, the Sift cupcakes were delicious!  Let me tell you, I did not hold back volunteering for that tasting!

I utilized my collection of small antique bottles for centerpieces on the cocktail tables and the reception.  Each vase contained a few stems of flowers, and each table a cluster of bottles.  These antique bottles are available for rental as well as the wooden rounds and vases that you see in the photos!

It was a wonderful wedding, one that I will never forget and keep close to my heart for oh so many reasons.

Flowers in Pink, Peach & White with Pops of Yellow!

Hydrangea, succulents, stock, ranunculus, craspedia and banskia were all used to create this lovely "Thank You" arrangement!  A great bonus is the recipient of this arrangement can transplant the succulents once the cut arrangement has died.  I wish I could somehow channel the smell of these flowers through my blog! A breath of fresh floral air!

A Baby's Breath Wedding at Le Rivage

 These days it is rare to see high school sweethearts tie the knot, let alone high school sweethearts who have been together for 12 years before getting married!  It was about time, right?  Gina and Christian first started dating April 16, 1999 and were married close to their 12 1/2 year anniversary. I met these two about 6 years ago when I moved back to Sacramento after graduating college.  Christian was a frat guy and Gina was a sorority chick, both in college still.  They finally moved into an apartment together, got a couple of cats (Joey & Chandler), upgraded to buying a house and adopted a dog.  Then, Christian figured out Gina was THE ONE! Nah, I'm sure he knew long before that!

Their wedding went off without a hitch! Gina wanted to keep her flowers simple and white.  She loved the gypsophila so I found some cool vases from Z Gallerie and did poufs of gypsophila as centerpiece arrangements.  Gina's bouquet included hydrangea, roses, lambs ear, eucalyptus, and stephanotis just to name a few flowers. 

 The location of the wedding was beautiful and very Sacramento.  Le Rivage is located right along the riverbank and the ceremony site overlooks the water.  The weather couldn't have been better on this sunny October day!

White & Blue Wedding Flowers at Newcastle Wedding Gardens

 My beloved friends, Brent and Kristin, tied the knot this past September at Newcastle Wedding Gardens.  The early stages of our planning process was comical.  Brent was opinionated about what he didn't like for the wedding but didn't know what he did! Oh, I love Brent dearly!  After Kristin ran through the entire color wheel with her soon to be husband and few times, they both agreed on blue, white and green for their wedding flowers.   

 Kristin and I had a lot of fun together finding inspiration for the flowers and decor (and convincing Brent to wear a boutonniere).  It was an added bonus to me that she asked for my input on so many other details since we are such close friends!  Because the wedding was in a garden and reception in a barn, she did not want the flowers to be over the top.  But, she is a little bit of a girlie girl so we had to add a touch of glam and sparkle to make her feel like a princess bride!  I must add, the big beautiful garden roses in Kristin's bouquet smelled absolutely intoxicating.

I loved creating the flower girl wand (see below)!  Newcastle Wedding Gardens had a great room to get ready in and take some bridal party photos as well (also below).

Georgia, owner of Newcastle Wedding Gardens, did an amazing job keeping everything organized for Kristin and Brent.  I even handed off extra flowers to her and she threw together arrangements and added flowers where she saw fit.  Georgia really went above and beyond her job to help make the wedding special! 

 Jeff Sharpe did a fantastic job capturing the day with his photography.  Kristin truly emulates a "glowing bride" in the photo above!
