Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center - Travel Series Part III

The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center was the next big stop as Brian and I started driving to Palmer, AK to go to the State Fair.  The center is a nonprofit organization that "is dedicated to preserving Alaska's wildlife through public education."  They rehabilitate animals and house those permanently that cannot be released into to the wild.  The setting of the center is absolutely stunning.  A sprawling lush green landscape with towing mountains in the background fostered the perfect home for these animals.  In order to visit you simply drive your car to the gate, pay an entrance fee and drive your car through the park.  If you choose, you may park your car, hop out and get a closer look or park and walk through the entire facility.  The bears were especially entertaining, sticking their tongue's out and scratching themselves!
